Achieve your R&D goals
faster, smarter and with less risk!

At our New York State Center for Advanced Technology at Stony Brook University, we provide intellectual, logistical, and material resources for the development of new product technologies - by facilitating R&D partnerships between New York companies with an in-state footprint and university researchers. The important outcomes are new jobs, new patents, training of students in company product matters, and improved competitiveness for New York State businesses.

Why work with us?

De-Risk your R&D effort.
Take advantage of university researcher expertise already developed. Find and secure the technology key to unlock your next product offering, or secure your market space.

Ease your R&D budget.
Your R&D dollar will go much farther in a joint project with Sensor CAT participation than if you go it alone. Your application for federal R&D dollars will gain weight and credibility with our expert review, contingency financial commitment, and support letter.

Access entire Stony Brook University faculty.
We will be your portal to the Stony Brook campus. When we know your technology needs, we will recommend applicable faculty members with whom to discuss them further, and outline what equipment that you may need is already on campus or which may be purchased as part of a co-funded R&D project.

Leverage our Networking.
The Sensor CAT's contacts roster is continually being expanded and updated by our ongoing outreach program. Let us put our industry knowledge and contacts to work for you, and help you find the new connection or corporate partner you need.

Let us train your new employees.
Students and other researchers, including those recruited by the Sensor CAT specifically for projects with your company, will become a natural source of pre-trained employees.

Who works with us?

We are ready to aid all companies to find a technology match on campus suited to their needs. Companies with a New York presence are eligible for our financial assistance. Just last year, the Sensor CAT participated in 30 projects with 24 different companies.

Big and small - all are welcome!

The Sensor CAT has authorized matching budgets commensurate with large projects in the past, and particularly welcomes small and startup companies. We offer special business services to entrepreneurs.
